Ingredient Notes
This hot Aperol does with just a few ingredients. Here is what you need:
- Aperol – The Italian aperitif comes with a bitter note which is a perfect addition to the sweet apple juice and honey.
- White wine – Use a dry white wine like chardonnay, sauvignon blanc or Riesling and Grüner Veltliner, which are very common in Austria.
- Apple juice – I used unsweetened clear apple juice in this recipe
- Honey – I love the subtle flavour honey adds to the hot Aperol, but this recipe would also work with agave syrup.
- Cinnamon – A cinnamon stick infuses the hot Aperol with the perfect amount of wintery spice.
- Clove – Along with the cinnamon stick, the cloves add to the Christmas flavour and make for a comforting drink.

Instructions
- Pour the Aperol, white wine, and apple juice into a medium-sized saucepan. Add the honey, cinnamon stick, and cloves.
- Warm up the mixture on the stove on medium heat. Make sure it does not start to boil. This would make the alcohol evaporate. Stir for about 2-3 minutes until the honey is dissolved and the mixture is hot.
- Remove the cinnamon stick and cloves and pour the hot Aperol into mugs and glasses. Garnish with an orange slice and cinnamon stick, and serve.
