Blood Orange Vodka Ginger Fizz
I might not like winter that much, but there are still a couple of things I love about this season. No wonder it involves food because I adore the fruits and vegetables the colder season has to offer.
In this case, the sister of one of my favourite fruits is my main squeeze (pun intended!). And what better way to celebrate blood oranges than with a delicious drink. Right there, this Blood Orange Vodka Ginger Fizz comes into play. With a heavenly citrus flavour, a hint of spice, and a sparkly attitude, this drink is sure to make you yearn for another round.

Ingredients for this citrus cocktail
- blood oranges
- lemon
- vodka
- ginger essence
- agave syrup
- sparkling water

Boozy but still nourishing?
Even though this cocktail contains alcohol, you can still reap the nutrient benefits of this drink. Blood oranges and lemons pack a bunch of vitamin C and antioxidants, which help fight free radicals. Moreover, the added ginger boosts your immune system, which comes in handy when flu season is in full swing. So it’s technically a superfood juice with booze. Ha!
*Drink responsibly

Tips for making this blood orange cocktail
-
Use freshly squeezed blood orange and lemon juice if you can. When it comes to flavour, using fresh fruits makes all the difference. Moreover, fresh fruits are free of added sugar and much more nutritious.
-
Don’t have ginger essence? Peel and grate fresh ginger. Then put it into a paper towel, secure it between your fingers and squeeze out the juice with your hands. Alternatively, you can also use ginger juice. You might need more than stated in the recipe because it is less intense in flavour.
-
Shake the ingredients with some ice cubes first. Then divide into glasses and add the sparkling water. It ensures you get a bubbly and well-tempered drink.
