- 500 g carrots (~1lb)
- 1 ½ tablespoon vegetable oil (eg. rapeseed or sunflower oil)
- 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
- ½ tablespoon fresh rosemary (chopped)
- pinch of nutmeg (freshly grated)
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- pepper to taste
Wash and peel the carrots. Choose similar-sized carrots. Cut thicker carrots in half if necessary. Roughly chop the rosemary.
In a shallow sealable container, mix the sweet paprika powder, chopped rosemary, nutmeg, salt, pepper and vegetable oil. Stir with a spoon to combine. Place the carrots in the container, seal, and shake until the carrots a well coated in the seasoning.
Transfer the seasoned carrots to the air fryer basket and arrange them in a single layer. Make sure there is space between each carrot to allow for even cooking.
Cook the carrots on 200°C (400 °F) for 20 minutes, turning them halfway through cooking to ensure they are evenly cooked. Check the carrots for doneness; they should be tender and crispy. If they are not tender, cook them for another 2-3 minutes.
- Size right – Use carrots that are all about the same size. This will ensure an even baking process. If you have thicker ones, cut them lengthwise in half.
- Keep space – Do not overcrowd the air fryer to get crispy carrots. If you want to make more than fit, air fry them in batches.
- Vary the spices – Season the carrots with herbs and spices like thyme, parsley, ginger, and turmeric. Or make them sweet by adding cinnamon powder and maple syrup.
