Vegan Almond Hot Chocolate

Mhmm, hot chocolate! The warming feeling that travels through my body when taking a sip. The delicious chocolate flavour when I taste it on my tongue. That was a feeling I loved as a child and never said no to a cup of hot chocolate. And even as an adult, I opt for the cosy chocolate drink on cold days. But as with wine, which I like drier the older I get, I also grew on loving darker chocolate. It comes with a richer flavour and delivers more nutrients than milk chocolate.

So this recipe is a more balanced version of the sugary hot chocolate I drank as a child. As a flavourful add-on, I infused it with almond butter for a nutty flavour and creaminess.

Tips for making this recipe

  • I always buy high-quality dark chocolate when making this delicious hottie. It makes this cosy drink even better. I usually use 70% dark chocolate to get that rich flavour and reap all the nourishing benefits of cocoa.
  • This recipe uses almond milk, but I think it would also work well with other plant-based milk.
  • Stir the hot chocolate frequently when simmering to get a creamy result.
  • The hot chocolate is best served right after making.
