When I’m not eating my vitamins in the form of nourishing dishes, I drink them. And what better way to boost your immune system, than with a delicious and nutrient-dense green juice.

Especially in times like these, a good working immune system, next to taking protective measures, is key to stay healthy. The best way to do so, is filling your body with nourishing food. To make it more fun, I love to incorporate fruits and vegetables not only into my dishes but also into my drinks.

A nutrient-dense cocktail

For this healthy juice, I decided on some green fruits and veggies to put in the juicer and create a delicious vitamin cocktail, perfect on hot summer days. Here is the ingredient breakdown:

  • Apple – An apple a day keeps the doctor away, they say. The crunchy fruit is a good source of vitamin C as well as fiber, and a great base for this nourishing juice.
  • CucumberThe hydrating vegetable adds a refreshing touch and is the ideal cooling and light ingredient on hot days.
  • LimeI’m a sucker fo citrus fruits, not only for their tangy taste but also for their high dose of vitamin C.
  • KiwiTo round out the flavour of this green vitamin juice, I added some kiwi. The tropical fruit delivers a good dose of vitamin C, vitamin K and potassium and is said to keep your gut healthy.
  • GingerThe powerhouse spice is said to have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiviral properties. I use the immune-boosting root in many dishes and love it’s spicy flavour.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 apples
  • 1 cucumber
  • 2 kiwis
  • 1 lime
  • thumb piece ginger

Instructions
 

  • Core apples and peel cucumber, kiwis as well as ginger.
  • Place apples, cucumber, kiwi and ginger in a juicer and juice.
  • Squeeze out limes, add to thejuice and stir.
  • Serve right away or store in the fridge for up to 3 days.
