Honey Lemon Drop ingredient breakdown
3 simple ingredients and some ice cubes are all it takes to make this glorious cocktail.
Lemon: The heart of this drink is freshly squeezed lemon juice. Use ripe lemons to get the best taste.
Cointreau: The french liqueur is not only a mainstay in classic cocktails like the Margarita and the Sex and the City famous Cosmopolitan. I used it in this drink to add a subtle orange note which elevates the overall flavour.
Honey Simple Syrup: The bee’s knees is a frequent ingredient in my wholesome recipes and used here to balance out the sourness from the lemons and add the distinctive and beloved honey flavour. Turned into a simple syrup, the golden nectar becomes more fluid and easier to mix into the drink.

How to make Honey Simple Syrup
Honey Simple Syrup is basically honey diluted with water. Because honey is would be hard to combine in the cocktail because of its thick consistency. Making it into a simple syrup gives it the right texture to add to your cocktail.
Combine 4 tbsp honey and 60ml (¼ cup) water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently, until it boils up slightly and the mixture is smooth. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
If you have leftover honey simple syrup, transfer it into an airtight jar or container and store in the fridge for up to one week. Use for your sweet breakfast or other drinks to use up.

Honey Lemon Drop
- Cocktail Shaker
- 50 ml Cointreau (2 oz)
- 100 ml lemon juice (4 oz) freshly squeezed
- 4 tbsp honey simple syrup (see recipe notes)
- Prepare the honey simple syrup and let cool (see recipe notes).
- Combine Cointreau, lemon juice and 4 tbsp of the made honey simple syrup in a cocktail shaker with some ice cubes. Shake vigorously for a couple of seconds.
- Strain into two small glasses over ice. Garnish with fresh sprigs of rosemary if you like and serve.
