Tasting Table

Orange Mulled White Wine

Christmas is almost here and there are traditions that I hold high during holiday season. For example, visiting the beautiful Christmas markets around Vienna and hosting a Christmas girls night, where I serve homemade seasonal food and drinks. These are the best nights, filled with laughter and good conversations. When preparing for these girls nights there is usually cookies or cake involved, roasted chestnuts  and of course some mulled wine. While I’m always doing the classic red mulled wine for the girls, I often make a second version with white wine. Because I’m not into red wine that much. So, for all of you who are with me on the white whine bandwagon you’ll love this Christmassy mulled white wine with a touch of orange. Perfect for all your holiday festivities to come. Orange Mulled White Wine

What you need: (serves ~4)

500ml (17oz) white wine

3 oranges

3 cinnamon sticks

1 tsp cloves

agave nectar to taste

Pour the white wine into a pot. Juice two of the three oranges and add the orange juice to the pot. Cut the third orange into slices and also put it. Add the spices and bring to a boil. Let it stand on low heat for about 15 to 20 minutes giving it time to soak up the spices. Add agave nectar (or sugar) to taste. Pour into mugs or glasses and serve with an orange slice and cinnamon stick.
