I love design places with a concept. The hotel we stayed at in Chicago on our roadtrip was no exception. Normally, design hotels are on the upper price level, so if you plan a roadtrip with many hotel bookings along the way the price is definitely a factor considering all the expenses that go along with such a an extensive trip. So there were not many design hotels planned on this trip obviously. But the Longman & Eagle covered my design hotel envy to a reasonable price. As soon as I discovered this little place in an online article I had to book a room for our stay in Chicago. Located in the artsy Logan Square area, the hotel features 6 rooms, which are all differently designed with a retro but modern feel. But there is more.
Besides featuring lofty and uniquely designed rooms the Longman & Eagle is a restaurant and bar. With a creative kitchen and tasty food combinations expect the unexpected when it comes to the dishes. The breakfast options and the Ploughman’s Platter for lunch are winners for sure. The bar is also worth a look at. With an extensive drink menu at their indoor and outdoor OSB at L&E Bar Whisky and Beer lovers will not be disappointed. They even have Austrian vines on the menu. The bar is always packed from the late afternoon into the night and I really saw why people liked it so much. It is a comfortable and fun spot to hang out after work or for a date with a mix of good music to chill out.
I really enjoyed the 3-day stay there, with a very friendly staff, creative ideas, cool atmosphere and a location you can’t beat. This will truly be a hotel I will remember forever.
