A good makeup look starts with the perfect base. What do I mean by that? No matter how good your eye makeup or brow game is, it all starts with a flawless canvas to get the perfext look. Considering I started applying makeup around 15 years ago, I tried a lot of makeup products to fullfill my skin needs and have the desired outcome. Over the years there were good make up products, bad ones and products that I keep returning to, because they are outstanding. At least from my point of view!
To create the perfect base for my everyday makeup look I turn to products that give me coverage where I need it without being too heavy on the face or even worse, turning out to get cakey overtime. These little makeup wonders do their job right and no matter how many makeup products I own (There are a lot!!!) I always keep going back to my favourites. Scroll down for details on every product and why I love it.
The Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Oil-Free was a revelation when I first used it. After trying different brands, this is truly my favourite one. It is the perfect lightweight base before applying foundation. I especially love it during the warmer months because it keeps your makeup in place even when you’re sweating and hydrates dry skin.
I have dark circles for days. No matter how much I sleep or depuff my eyes in the morning, there are always these shadows that make me look like I’m sick. So you can imagine that I tried tons of under eye products to cover them. This usually involves a couple of steps and the Smashbox Photo Op Under Eye Brigthener is one of those steps. After applying a good eye cream, I dab some of this lightweight illuminator under my eyes. It’s instantly makes me look fresher and is the perfect “primer” before I put on concealer.
Searching for a foundation that covers an uneven skin tone but is not too heavy? Then the MAC Face and Body Foundation is your partner in crime. This lightweight fluid lets me build the coverage I need without looking like a mask. I love to dab a little on my fingers and just work it in like a moisturizer.
So now it’s on to my holy grail makeup product. The Clinique All About Eyes Concealer is probably one of the best concealers I have ever tried and in fact the only one that covers my dark circles this good. It has a creamy consistency and stays put for hours without getting cakey. Unfortunately they don’t produce the darker shades for European countries, that’s why I always stock up on my shade “Deep Honey” when I’m flying to the US.
Last but not least the MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation sets every fluid formula I just used and keeps it in place the whole day. I’ve been using this pressed powder for almost ten years now and haven’t found a better one in that price category yet. The best part? There are so many shades that you will definitely find the right one for you. Trust me!
