  1. Prep & Prime

A good manicure is where it all starts. I usually manicure my nails once a week, which includes a 10-minute bath, cutting and filing. Before putting on nail polish, I wipe my nails with nail polish remover to get rid any product build-up and strip remaining oils. Then I start with a thin layer of base coat. It gives you an even canvas and protects your nails from staining.

  1. High Maintenance

I’m a believer in using good quality nail polish. Higher priced products usually have more staying power and give you a better result. My favourite brands are ESSIE and O.P.I. I love the colour variety and how the brushes are perfect for an even and stripe-free application.

  1. Layering Game

I start with one thin layer of nail polish and let it dry completely before adding another thin layer. Letting your nails dry completely between layers is crucial to prevent chipping. Use three layers at maximum to get the best result.

  1. Finishing Act

I always finish with a top coat to make my manicure last longer and protect it from chipping. My favourite for years now is the ESSIE Good To Go top coat.

  1. Ice Ice Baby

To make my nails dry faster, I rinse them with ice-cold water after they have air-dried for a few minutes. That helps save time and really lock in the nail polish.
